Center for Academically Talented Students (C.A.T.S.)

Centennial Elementary School C.A.T.S. Program

This program for gifted and talented students will provide opportunities that broaden and extend the learning process. This is an enrichment program where learning will be enhanced by offering meaningful lessons, tasks, and experiences differentiated by content, process, and product.

Students may be referred and tested beginning in second grade. Students may qualify for the C.A.T.S. program with a score in the 97th percentile or above in at least one of the three domains on the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT), or in the 93rd percentile in at least two of the domains. This test is administered by the C.A.T.S. teacher in October and again in March to recommended students in 2nd - 6th grades for gifted services. Qualifying test scores from other gifted programs may qualify transferring students for the Flowing Wells gifted program, or C.A.T.S.
